Finding the right gourmet tea can be quite a daunting task if you’ve only ever used tea bags before. So which gourmet tea should you choose? Green tea is a popular choice as it has many well documented health benefits, but what other sorts of gourmet teas are there?

Rooibos tea from South Africa can help the drinker to relax, as it contains calming properties. It is a good choice for the novice gourmet tea drinker as it has a mild taste.
Once you have found the right gourmet tea, you need to follow the advice to ensure that it is brewed properly. Different gourmet teas need different water temperatures and different brewing times. Getting the brewing process wrong can ruin the taste, and put you off that gourmet tea. You’d follow a recipe when cooking a new dish, or read the instructions before assembling furniture or setting up a new gadget, and the same is true for gourmet tea.
If you know your wines, and can understand the differences between different grapes or the same grape grown in different countries, then you will definitely be able to appreciate gourmet teas. Gourmet teas are available from the leading tea producing countries such as India, Chinese, Sri Lanka, Kenya and Japan, and each gourmet tea has its own aroma and flavour. As you learn more about tea, you will be able to recognise the differences between gourmet teas from different countries.
Once you become hooked on gourmet tea, you will appreciate the taste and flavour compared to tea made with a tea bag. You will also enjoy learning which temperatures and brewing times work best for each different type of gourmet tea.
